Laminate isn’t just for countertops and floors anymore. Give your home an eye-catching accent without breaking the bank and use laminate in an unconventional way. Here are five creative uses for laminate.

Use Marble Laminate to Create a Layered Accent Wall

Get a high-end feel in your living room and hang a sheet of marble-look laminate on your main wall. Depending on the texture and material of the wall, you may need to attach the laminate to a thin sheet of plywood before hanging. Go the extra mile and create a half wood-slat wall treatment to go behind the laminate for a layered look. You’ll be glad you did this because the jaw-dropping effect of the finished product is worth the effort.

Turn Leftover Laminate Flooring into a Rustic Accent Wall

Give your home a pop of texture and hang laminate flooring on the wall to create a rustic accent. If brown panels feel too dark, opt for white or gray laminate flooring to give your space a modern farmhouse look. Mark a straight line across the middle of your wall and start there. This way, any cuts are along the top and bottom of the wall. Hang the panels with liquid nail adhesive and secure with small finishing nails.

Hang a Laminate Slab to Make Your Own Headboard

Update your bedroom with a laminate headboard. Whether you decide to hang the panel vertically up the wall, or go with a traditional horizontal headboard shape, this will make you feel like you’re in a high-end hotel every time you walk in the room.

Update Your Bar Area with Laminate Flooring Panels

Wrap your home bar in wood laminate panels to give it a whole new look. This is a great option for a basement bar area where you don’t want to spend a lot of money, but still want a custom look. Go with dark brown panels for a speakeasy-lounge vibe or brighten up a dark room with light colored laminate.

Extend Laminate Countertops for Backsplash

Laminate is still a great option for your kitchen countertops. It’s water-resistant and lends a high-end marble or granite look without the price tag. If you decide to go with laminate countertops, extend the slab up the wall and use it as backsplash too. This gives your kitchen a clean, streamlined look and is easier to clean than backsplash tile with a lot of grout lines.
